I have been living at the Foundry for nine months now with my boyfriend. I will give a candid review of its pros and cons:
Pros: Our apartment is huge in terms of nearby apartments, and our kitchen/bathroom/bedroom is completely renovated and brand new. We love the size of the rooms, and the wonderful home the space has created.
-Kind, quiet neighbors.
-Our rent per month is very reasonable compared to other apartments in the area; we are paying less than anyone else I have spoken with (especially friends who live in much tinier spaces in Paulus Hook). Major deal.
-Nice, no-frills gym located on the premises. Won’t have an excuse not to work out in the dead of winter!
-Front desk staff has always been kind and accommodating.
Cons:
-Sometimes, getting into the city can be rough. Really rough. On the weekends, give yourself at least an hour and a half to get anywhere in NY besides lower Manhattan (that could take about an hour). I’m not a fan of the light rail; it moves slowly and those small tolls add up everyday added with the PATH and subway fares.
-There’s not much to do with a nightlife around here. The closest fun areas are Zepplin Hall (easy light rail, biking, or about a 20 minute walk). So not that bad, depending on the season.
